Haikal Goes to a Birthday Party

It was Ez Rayyan's 2nd birthday and I was glad we could make it. I was pretty tired from the marching in the morning but I figured out it would be best if we could go and meet some star babies! And so off we went to the Holiday Lodge. The party was by the poolside and it was quite fun as there were lots of games (in the water) and the best of all was to be able to meet the little ones!

There. Babies! And more babies are on their way insyaAllah :D

Brunei's 28th National Day 2012

Happy National Day my fellow countrymen! I joined the PAPHRSB school team at the N' Day parade in Bandar this morning, and it was quite a different case this year. Knowing that there would be a massive traffic and it would be hard to get a parking space, I decided to park at Kiulap area and get a boat to the heart of BSB.

Warah & I had a quick breakfast at this old Indian restaurant across the road and I LOVE their roti telur. We proceeded to the Yayasan complex as that was our meeting point. It was quite hot & sunny, but that didn't melt the patriotic spirit down.

:What I wore::

Now at home, I need time to get refreshed, do my solat, get some nap & rush to a friend's baby's birthday party at Jerudong. I'm taking Haikal IF I'm going, and he is still asleep now. Maybe I should join him first before taking a shower :D

Here wishing a great weekend my fellow readers, and last but not least, may Allah shower our beloved Brunei Darussalam with His Blessings!

5 Months Old Today!

So, we have one more month to go before Haikal gets to taste foods other than umm's milk. And one more month to 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding. Where has all the time gone?! I recall the mini post-partum depression I experienced during Haikal's first few months and the struggle in trying not to formula-feed him, and can't believe I've successfully passed the terrifying stages.

And now Haikal is 5 months old, I should start planning what to give him as his first foods. Plain porridge is definitely on the menu, but I'm also thinking of other alternatives incase he refuses the porridge. I still have BLW on my mind, but I'm unsure if I can cope with the extra mess.

Anyway, DH got a Bumbo seat for our 5 month old boy as a present. He went shopping on his own and I believed he had bought it on impulse. First-time ever but at least now he understands why I have those stacks of kains. He was so excited when he got home and couldn't wait to put Haikal in it that he woke him up from his nap. And of course this is what you get. A not-so-excited baby.

LOL! At least smile at the camera lah baby! Anyway, I am not really sure if this is a good thing to get or not. I am pro- natural-development, as in no bumbo seat, no walker etc. I personally think putting Haikal in the seat is a hindrance to his development in terms of sitting on his own, so I might have to limit the usage of the seat. Anyway, we'll wait and see what's going to happen next.

Haikal Goes to The Empire

And he went swimming. Finally. Not really a swim pulang. More like a bath in a pool hehe. We were looking for swimming attire for him but they don't have it at Toys R Us. So we decided to just take him to the poolside to watch the cousins swimming.

Few minutes later...

And my little boy is turning 5 months tomorrow! He got to taste a little bit of Sunkist orange last night when my brother put a slice on his lips and took it away quickly, and he cried for more. Of course we didn't feed him with any. You need to wait for another month baby! Which reminds me, I need to start planning his first foods soon.

Earlier last week, Haikal reached another milestone as he was able to reach his toes *yeay*

And it is getting more difficult to put him to bed at night nowadays as he likes to stay up as long as he can and insists us play with him. I have this one idea of keeping him awake throughout the day so that he will fall asleep easier at night, I should try that later.

How We Spent Our Sunday

Yes we went for an afternoon tea at the RBPRC at Jerudong. Firah went for a quick swim and how I wish we had gotten Haikal a swimming attire. He looked nervous and yet excited when we dipped his feet in the water. Must. Buy. One.

The food was just okay but I would say $15 per person is a little bit overpriced. Anyway, the sago pudding with gula melaka was still my favourite dessert.

Afterwards we had a quick photoshot session outside on the golf turf. Using the phone pulang saja :p

Overall we had a pleasant afternoon. Nice food nice company nice place. But I still prefer the beach cafe over the poolside :) The pool was a little bit too crowded. I wouldn't go and take Haikal for a swim there on Sundays.

Now the sister is back from her vacation in KL & Singapore, and she got me some fresh Fenugreek seeds. FYI the seeds are believed (or maybe has been scientifically proven) to help in breastmilk production, and she thinks this is the best ole-ole she could get for me. Thanks but I guess a Guess wristlet would have been better :p nada wah! Thanks still. I will keep these in the shelf. At the moment I'm trying my best not to consume any supplementary food for my supply as so far my production has been okay. But who knows I'm going to need them during the not so milky days. Let's pray that it won't happen.

When The Nasty Cough Dropped By

My little baby caught a cold and some phlegm-y cough last week. It wasn't really bad but it made him cranky and unable to sleep well. So I immediately thought of this ointment suggested in the BBM group called Minyak Batooka. The reason why I didn't take him to the doctor is because I knew we wouldn't be prescribed with any medication since Haikal is less than 6 months old. I almost went out to buy one when mum told me that she kept one in her room. That at least spare me a drive to Giant at least.

That's how it looks like. I only applied some on his chest and back twice a day and within 2 days alhamdulillah the cough completely went away. So, yes, I strongly recommend this. A mommy's must-have!
Anyway, Nana is finally here. Though she had left us for almost a year, it felt like she had always been here. And alhamdulillah Haikal has no problem 'bonding' with her. I'm completely relieved! I taught her how to handle EBMs as that is the only thing that's new to her. The rest, I can say that she takes care of Haikal like her own baby.

And that's Nana with her BIG babies she has successfully raised :D
Also, a big shout out to my darling little sister and friends who have passed their O levels with flying colours! The whole gang got 9Os!!! Alhamdulillah.

To our darling Munawwarah, all the best in your future undertaking, and remember not to let success carry you away from our main goal in this life, that is Jannah. Solat lima waktu jangan lupa, insyaAllah you will achieve excellence in life in this world and the world hereafter. xx

Rolling Baby

Haikal is 100% able to roll his body now, and it seems to be the only thing he loves to do. He loves to lie on his tummy than on his back. I guess its because that position lets him see better what is around him. One moment you put him down and the next one his head would be up high looking around. Sometimes all he does is keep on rolling on the carpet/ mattress until he reaches the wall or the foot of the TV bench or his playpen, then he would cry!

A note to self, get tsome gym mats ASAP. DH opposed to the idea though. He thinks it would be difficult to clean the carpetted-room, but he's okay if we put it outside in the living room instead :s He is making sense there, the bedroom doesn't really need extra paddings since it's got wall-to-wall carpet. But the living room's floor is quite bare, so we might use a little bit of space there, put some gym mats and convert the whole area into a play area. HAHA My mum would be scratching her head if she sees this.

Anyway, I can smell the looooong weekend, again! Maulidur Rasul is up next, and we are renting a giant slide bouncer tomorrow for the kids. Looking forward to my Sunday with loves! AND NANA IS ARRIVING TONIGHT!! Phewww~
